Objective
To provide support to the sales effort by ensuring wide spread availability and smooth distribution of cold chain maintained stocks in all markets covered, through a network of efficient and effective ‘Authorised Vaccine Dealers’.
Since vaccines are highly temperature sensitive, the entire distribution and logistics of vaccines depends on an efficient 'cold chain management'. In Chiron Panacea Vaccines, it is a mission to deliver highly efficacious vaccines to the ultimate customer through a disciplined and effective cold chain maintained by a network of our C&F Agents, Super Stockists and AVD’s.
We have seven C&FA’s across the country who caters to two Super Stockists and more than 300 AVD’s spread out in all important markets covered by our field force.
Stocks are delivered through refrigerated vehicles from the manufacturing facilities to the C&FA’s, at a temperature range of 5°C ± 3°C for all vaccines except Primopol (tOPV) which is maintained and transported at -20°C.
At the C&FA, the respective vaccines are stocked in Walk in Coolers, maintained at 5°C ± 3°C and Deep Freezers maintained at -20°C. The C&FA’s deliver the vaccines to AVD’s in their jurisdiction in specially designed thermocol boxes with coolants/ice packs surrounding the vaccines within 48 hours (the period in which the temperature is maintained within 8°C in the thermocol box). Primopol(tOPV) is to be delivered within 11hours to ensure a temperature of -20°C.
This cold chain is maintained by the AVD’s while delivering the stocks to chemists, consuming doctors and hospitals, who in turn follow the cold chain to ensure efficacious vaccine delivery to the final recipient.
